Primary SEND Support Mentor, ARP

Location: Havering
Pay: £95 to £100 per day PAYE
Contract: Full time, long term, temp to perm
Start Date: September 2026

We are currently working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Havering that has an established Additional Resource Provision supporting pupils with autism and associated learning needs.

The school is looking for a dedicated SEND Support Mentor to join the team on a long term basis. You will work closely with a consistent group of pupils, providing the support they need to access learning and develop their communication, independence and emotional regulation.

There is also the opportunity for the position to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

You will provide one to one and small group support throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and independence
• Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
• Supporting sensory, communication and behavioural needs
• Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required
• Providing consistent and positive behaviour support
• Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and structured activities
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Working alongside teachers, the SENDCO and wider support staff

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Calm, patient and confident
• Experienced in supporting children with SEND
• Comfortable working with pupils with complex needs
• Able to respond to challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Comfortable with personal care responsibilities where required
• Skilled at building positive relationships with children
• Reliable and committed to a long term position

Experience within a primary school or ARP would be beneficial, although relevant experience from other educational, care or support settings will also be considered.

Youth Worker
Or another role supporting children or young people with additional needs
