KS2 Teacher - Autism Provision | Lambeth | Permanent | September Start
KS2 Teacher - Autism Resource Provision
Location: Lambeth, South London
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Inner London MPS (M1-M6) + SEN Allowance (£43,104 - £55,087)
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded mainstream primary school with a long-established Autism Resource Provision, where pupils are challenged, supported, and expected to achieve. The expectation isn't that you simplify learning, it's that you deliver excellent teaching, thoughtfully adapted to meet individual needs.
About the Role
- You will teach a Year 5/6 class of approximately 10 autistic pupils within the school's specialist Autism Resource Provision
- These are bright, verbal learners who benefit from a smaller, structured environment while accessing aspects of mainstream school life where appropriate (they require a teacher who can build trusting relationships, provide consistency and adapt teaching without compromising ambition)
- This is a classroom where high-quality teaching comes first, not endless worksheets or low-level activities.
- You'll work alongside four experienced Teaching Assistants and a knowledgeable SEND leadership team, giving you the support to focus on what you do best: teaching
The School
- This inclusive mainstream primary school has developed an excellent reputation for its Autism Resource Provision and its commitment to ensuring pupils with SEND receive the same ambitious education as their peers
- Leadership set exceptionally high expectations for both staff and pupils and are committed to maintaining outstanding teaching across every part of the school
- SLT invest heavily in staff development and value teachers who are reflective, resilient and committed to continual improvement.
Who Will Thrive Here?
This role is particularly well suited to an excellent mainstream KS2 teacher who enjoys high-quality classroom practice and is looking to apply those skills in a smaller, more focused setting.
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-
Have successful experience teaching Key Stage 2
-
Be an excellent classroom practitioner with consistently high expectations
-
Be highly skilled in behaviour management and creating calm, purposeful learning environments
-
Build strong relationships with pupils through consistency, fairness and clear boundaries
-
Adapt teaching creatively while maintaining academic challenge
-
Work effectively with Teaching Assistants and wider professionals
-
Be resilient, reflective and comfortable working within a school that sets high professional standards
Previous experience within an Autism Resource Provision or specialist SEND setting is welcomed but is not essential. The school is equally keen to hear from accomplished mainstream teachers who are ready to specialise in SEND without leaving behind excellent curriculum teaching.
