In a Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Central London, every day brings a chance to show a child that they can succeed, even when the road has been rocky. The pupils here are bright, capable, and full of potential but many have faced barriers that have made mainstream education difficult. Some stay for a short period before reintegration, while others need longer, more consistent support.

What they all need is a teacher who sees beyond behaviour, understands the impact of emotion and trauma, and believes in new beginnings.

About the Role

As a Primary Teacher in this PRU, you will work with pupils who present a wide range of needs, including SEMH, ADHD and complex behavioural challenges. Your teaching will be adaptive, creative, and centred around helping children rebuild confidence, re-learn trust, and reconnect with learning.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships through restorative and emotionally-attuned practice
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals to personalise learning pathways
  • Create a calm, safe and nurturing environment where every child feels supported, understood and valued

What the Requirments Are

  • Holds QTS and has experience teaching primary-aged pupils
  • Has experience with, or a genuine passion for, supporting children with SEMH or additional needs
  • Brings strong behaviour management rooted in empathy, consistency and trauma-informed practice
  • Believes in inclusive education and the potential of every learner, no matter their background or challenges
