We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming special primary school in Watford. The school supports pupils with a range of additional and complex needs and is known for its inclusive ethos, strong teamwork, and child-centred approach.
About the Role:
• Support children with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis
• Work within a specialist SEND provision supporting pupils with complex needs
• Support pupils with autism, speech and language delays, and social communication needs
• Help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence
• Promote independence and positive engagement throughout the school day
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 support for primary-aged pupils with SEND
• Support pupils within a specialist SEND provision
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum using differentiated approaches
• Use visual supports, communication strategies, and sensory-informed techniques
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and positive learning engagement
• Help manage routines, transitions, and structured activities
• Work closely with teachers, SENCo, therapists, and support staff
• Create a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment

About You:
• Experience working with children with SEND (school-based or similar settings preferred)
• Confidence supporting pupils with autism and communication needs
• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Genuine passion for inclusive education
• Relevant experience or qualifications desirable but not essential
