A specialist SEN primary school in Watford is seeking a caring and reliable Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex learning needs. The school provides a structured, supportive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop communication skills, independence and confidence at their own pace.
This role would suit someone who is patient, compassionate and motivated to help children with additional needs thrive in a primary school setting.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and complex needs

Support pupils with personal care, feeding, hygiene and mobility where required

Assist with sensory learning activities to encourage engagement and emotional regulation

Use communication tools including visual timetables, PECS and AAC
-
Work alongside teachers to deliver learning activities linked to EHCP targets and individual support plans

Help maintain a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements

Experience supporting children with SEN, Autism, PMLD or complex learning needs

Experience in schools, care work, youth work, support work or healthcare is beneficial
-
Confidence supporting personal care if required

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Patient, reliable and committed to supporting children with additional needs
