Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis starting in September 2024. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and emotional development of our students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Support classroom teachers in delivering tailored lessons and interventions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe learning space.
- Encourage and motivate students to engage in their learning.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students with emotional and social development, including through mentoring and counselling.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children or young people, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding principles.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
