Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant or Youth Worker looking to work within a PRU setting?
A supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Brent is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils across primary and secondary age ranges who require additional behavioural, emotional and academic support to re-engage with education.
This role is ideal for professionals with experience in alternative provision, SEMH, youth work or pastoral support who are passionate about helping vulnerable pupils achieve positive outcomes.

The role
As a Teaching Assistant within the PRU, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, disengagement from learning or social and emotional needs.
You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured and consistent environment that supports both learning and emotional regulation.
Key responsibilities

1:1 and small group support

Supporting pupils with behaviour, routines and engagement

Assisting with classroom learning and practical activities

Implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans

Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Supporting emotional wellbeing and social development

Acting as a positive role model throughout the school day
Ideal candidate

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour

Calm, resilient and consistent approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Passion for supporting pupils in alternative provision

Proactive, flexible and reliable
-
Background in PRU, SEMH schools, youth work, mentoring or behaviour support is highly desirable
