PSHE & History Teacher

Specialist SEN Secondary School

Ealing, West London

Inner London Daily Rate PAYE

September Start

What if every lesson you taught was actually heard? What if the students in front of you were few enough that you could genuinely know each one their pace, their triggers, their humour, their potential and teach directly to all of it?

Most teachers spend their careers wondering what they could achieve if they just had more time with each student. This role answers that question.

The setting

This is a specialist secondary school that has rethought what teaching looks like from the ground up. Classes here are small, genuinely small, with groups of five or six pupils and two or three teaching and learning assistants working alongside you in the room. The result is something that most secondary teachers never experience: the space to actually teach, to respond in the moment, to go deeper, to slow down, to get it right for every individual in front of you.

The staff around you are experienced and committed. The structure is clear. And the young people here, who often arrive having found mainstream education difficult, are given something they may not have had before a teacher who has the time and the support to truly show up for them.

The role

You will hold a tutor group of around five or six students, providing the consistency and pastoral anchor that this age group needs. For the rest of the day you will teach PSHE and History across pathways to other pupil groups, bringing your subject knowledge into a setting where it can be delivered with real depth and genuine responsiveness.

With multiple teaching and learning assistants supporting you in every session, this is a role where collaboration is built into every lesson. You will plan together, adapt together and reflect together and the impact on the young people in your care will be all the more powerful for it.

Who this is for

Qualified teachers with QTS and a background in History, PSHE or a related humanities subject will be well suited to this role. We are also looking for practitioners drawn to specialist or alternative education settings, teachers who want smaller classes, stronger relationships and more meaningful daily impact, and those with experience in SEN, SEMH or SEND secondary settings. Candidates newer to specialist education but with the right values and genuine commitment are very welcome to apply. If you have ever felt constrained by large class sizes and want to find out what becomes possible without them, this role is worth a conversation.

What's on offer

Inner London daily rate PAYE, paid directly with no umbrella companies, a September start, genuinely small class sizes with substantial teaching assistant support in every lesson, a tutor group role that allows you to build real pastoral relationships, a collaborative and well-structured specialist environment, and ongoing professional development with the chance to grow within a specialist secondary setting.

Why this role matters

Secondary aged pupils in specialist settings are often young people for whom mainstream education did not work not because they could not learn but because the conditions were never right for them to do so. A teacher who combines subject passion with patience, adaptability and genuine belief in every student can change the entire trajectory of a young person's relationship with education.

In a class of five or six, with the right support around you, that kind of impact is not an aspiration. It is a daily reality.

Interviews are taking place now and this role will not be open for long.

If this sounds like the teaching role you have been looking for, get in touch today.
