Salary: £42,319 - £46,328 per annum

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated PSHE & RSE Teacher to join a specialist education setting that supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role
As PSHE & RSE Teacher, you will deliver engaging and meaningful lessons across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, with opportunities to support older learners where appropriate. You will play a key role in ensuring personal development, wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood are embedded throughout the curriculum and wider school community.
You will take a holistic approach to education, supporting pupils to achieve their individual EHCP outcomes, build positive relationships, develop emotional regulation skills, and make progress both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver creative, differentiated PSHE and RSE lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Develop engaging schemes of work and learning experiences that prepare pupils for life beyond school.
- Support pupils in achieving EHCP targets and personal aspirations.
- Act as a form tutor, providing daily pastoral support and building strong, positive relationships.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote personal development, wellbeing, and safeguarding across the school.
- Adapt the curriculum to support neurodiverse learners and those with SEMH needs.
- Use positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques to help pupils regulate emotions and succeed.
- Create real-world learning opportunities, linking education to employment, independence, and community engagement.
- Monitor progress, write reports, and contribute to individual education planning.
- Promote high standards of literacy, numeracy, and communication within all areas of learning.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds QTS or QTLS (ECTs are encouraged to apply).
- Has experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly ASC and/or SEMH needs.
- Understands the importance of building trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
- Has strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice.
- Is passionate about PSHE, personal development, and preparing young people for adulthood.
- Can remain calm and reflective in challenging situations.
- Believes behaviour is a form of communication and adopts a therapeutic, nurturing approach.
- Has excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- Is resilient, adaptable, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.
