Psychology Graduate Learning Support Assistant | Brent, North West London | £95–£100 per day PAYE
Are you a psychology graduate looking for a role where your degree actually matters from day one?
£95–£100 per day PAYE | Brent, North West London | Full time, term time only
A progressive, inclusive primary school in Brent is looking for a Psychology Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join their specialist team this September. Working directly with pupils who have autism (ASC), SEMH, and trauma related needs, you will be supported by an experienced SENCO, dedicated therapists, and a leadership team that genuinely invests in the people who work for them.
This is more than a classroom support role. It is a launchpad. Whether you are moving towards Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or a career in SEN teaching, the experience you build here will be directly relevant, deeply practical, and professionally recognised.
The Setting
Brent is one of London's most culturally rich and diverse boroughs, and this school reflects that vibrancy. The setting is warm, ambitious, and purposefully inclusive, with strong therapeutic provision embedded throughout. Staff are given the tools, training, and time to do the job well.
The Role
You will support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and social communication difficulties. Day to day, this means delivering 1 to 1 and small group interventions focused on communication, emotional regulation, and engagement; applying trauma informed and neuro-affirming strategies to help pupils feel safe, settled, and ready to learn; working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and therapists to implement and review EHCP targets; and adapting resources and approaches to meet each pupil's individual profile.
Who This Is For
This role is a strong fit for psychology graduates or those with related degrees such as Criminology, Sociology, or Counselling. It will also appeal to graduates with a genuine interest in SEND, mental health, and early intervention, and those who are calm, relationship focused, and emotionally resilient. If you are considering a future in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or SEN education, this role gives you exactly the kind of front line, documented experience that strengthens any application.
What You Will Get
You will receive £95 to £100 per day PAYE with no umbrella companies or hidden deductions, hands on experience in a school with embedded therapeutic provision, CPD and in house training in autism, SEMH, and trauma informed practice, a genuinely supportive team culture where your development is taken seriously, a real pathway to a permanent position, and experience that speaks directly to postgraduate psychology and education programmes.
Why This Role Matters
For young people with SEMH needs, autism, and complex trauma histories, the right adult in the room changes everything. Consistent, skilled, and compassionate support at this stage of a child's education can reshape their relationship with learning, with others, and with themselves. Your psychology background gives you a head start in understanding why that is and the confidence to act on it.
If you are ready to begin your journey into SEN education and applied psychology, this is the role to start with.
