A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent is looking for a Psychology Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join their team. You’ll work closely with children with autism (ASC), SEMH, social communication needs and trauma-related difficulties, gaining valuable experience in a supportive environment alongside experienced teachers, SEN professionals and therapists.

About the Role
You’ll play an important role in helping children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
Working on a 1:1 and small-group basis, you’ll support pupils with their communication, emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement. You’ll build trusted relationships, recognise individual needs and use appropriate strategies to help children overcome barriers to learning.
You’ll also work closely with the SENCO, teachers and wider therapeutic team to support EHCP outcomes and ensure each pupil receives consistent, personalised support.

What You’ll Be Doing

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to children with additional needs

Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and social communication difficulties

Delivering interventions focused on communication, emotional regulation and engagement

Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Using trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approaches

Supporting children to manage emotions and develop independence

Working alongside teachers, the SENCO and therapists

Helping implement and monitor EHCP targets

Adapting activities and resources around individual needs

Recording observations and contributing to the wider understanding of each pupil

You don’t necessarily need previous school experience. What matters is your genuine interest in children, SEND and psychology, alongside a calm, patient and compassionate approach.
You’ll need to be someone who is confident building relationships, able to remain composed in challenging situations and keen to learn from experienced professionals.
