Psychology Graduate SEND Opportunity
Barking & Dagenham | September 2026 Start
Full-Time | Long-Term Roles Available
A degree gives you the theory. This role gives you the experience that shapes your future career.
If you are a Psychology graduate looking to work with children and young people in a meaningful and rewarding way, this could be the perfect next step.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a range of schools and specialist provisions across Barking & Dagenham, including mainstream primary and secondary schools, SEND schools, SEMH settings, and PRUs. We are looking for graduates who want to gain hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs while building valuable skills for future careers in education, psychology, therapy, counselling, or mental health support.
You will support children and young people both in and out of the classroom, working either 1:1 or with small groups. The pupils you support may have Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, MLD, SLD, ODD, or PMLD.
This is far more than classroom support. It is an opportunity to develop a real understanding of behaviour, communication, emotional regulation, and child development in a practical setting.
The role may include:
• Supporting pupils with learning, communication, and emotional regulation
• Building positive relationships and helping pupils feel safe and understood
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
• Using structure and consistency to support pupils throughout the school day
Who would suit this role?
• Psychology graduates looking to gain practical SEND experience
• Graduates considering Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Teaching, Counselling, or Social Work
• Calm, resilient, and empathetic individuals
• People who genuinely want to make a difference in young people’s lives
No previous SEND experience is required. Schools are looking for the right attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
