The Role

This is a hands-on, rewarding position where you will support pupils both in the classroom and around the school. You will gain valuable practical experience while learning evidence-based strategies for communication, behaviour support, and emotional regulation.

Your role will include:

  • Using communication tools and strategies, including symbols and visual supports

  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing

  • Assisting with personal care where required (training provided)

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What the School Offers

  • Comprehensive training in communication strategies, behaviour support, and personal care

  • Experience supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including non-verbal learners

  • A nurturing, inclusive specialist setting with a strong team ethos

  • Clear progression routes into HLTA roles, teacher training, or specialist careers

  • Long-term stability with the potential for the role to become permanent

Who This Role Is For

  • Has a genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education

  • Brings empathy, resilience, creativity, and a flexible approach

  • Is keen to gain meaningful, hands-on experience

  • Has personal or lived experience of SEND (desirable but not essential)

This position is particularly well suited to aspiring Educational, Clinical, or Child Psychologists seeking practical experience in a specialist SEND setting.

Why Apply?

You will gain invaluable, real-world experience supporting children with complex needs in a specialist environment that prioritises staff development and pupil wellbeing. The role is challenging, highly rewarding, and an excellent foundation for future professional training.
