Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Specialist SEND School – Hounslow

Some roles help you build a CV. Others help you shape a future. This opportunity does both, from day one.

A specialist SEND school in Hounslow is seeking motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduates to join their dedicated team. The school supports pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including a high proportion of children with Autism Spectrum Condition. Some pupils are non-verbal and use symbols or alternative communication methods, and a small number may require personal care. Full training is provided, ensuring you feel confident, supported, and well-prepared in your role.

As a Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will gain invaluable, hands-on experience supporting pupils both in the classroom and around the school. You’ll develop practical skills in communication strategies, behaviour support, and emotional regulation, while playing a key role in creating a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels understood, valued, and able to thrive.

What the school offers:

  • Comprehensive training in communication strategies, behaviour support, and personal care

  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including non-verbal learners

  • A nurturing, inclusive setting with a strong therapeutic ethos

  • Clear progression routes into HLTA roles, teacher training, or specialist careers

  • The potential for the role to become permanent

The ideal candidate:

  • A recent graduate in Psychology, Education, or a related field

  • Previous SEND experience is welcomed but not essential

  • Empathy, resilience, creativity, and a flexible approach

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with autism and/or severe learning difficulties

This role is perfectly suited to aspiring Educational, Clinical, or Child Psychologists seeking meaningful, practical experience in a specialist SEND setting.

If you’re ready to gain hands-on experience, grow professionally, and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people, this could be the role that sets your career in motion.
