Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs before progressing into Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or teaching?
A supportive SEN school in Stanmore is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to work with pupils across primary and secondary phases with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in behaviour support, emotional regulation, and therapeutic approaches within a structured school setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH
• Support learning in the classroom, adapting tasks to meet individual needs
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement with learning
• Use psychology-based approaches to support behaviour and wellbeing
• Implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to ensure consistent support
Requirements
• A degree in Psychology (or related field)
• Passion for supporting children with SEN and pursuing a career in education or psychology
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships
• Resilience and confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
• Commitment to a full-time, long-term role
