A highly inclusive mainstream primary school in Havering is looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their specialist Autism Resource Provision. This is a fully integrated provision that sits at the heart of the school and plays a key role in shaping its inclusive culture.

This is a strong temp to perm opportunity for someone who is looking for long term stability and progression. You will begin in a temporary role from September with a clear pathway into a permanent position for the right person. This allows you to settle into the environment, build relationships and demonstrate your impact before moving into a long term role.

The role

You will play a key part in supporting pupils with autism and complex needs to access learning in a structured and meaningful way. Your responsibilities will include

Leading one to one and small group interventions focused on communication engagement and independence

Delivering tailored support in line with Education Health and Care Plan targets and adapting approaches to individual needs

Supporting emotional regulation and sensory needs using calm consistent and relationship based strategies

Building strong trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency and predictability

Working closely with teachers SENCOs therapists and families to ensure a consistent and joined up approach

Providing confident classroom cover when required while maintaining routines expectations and relationships

What we are looking for

This role would suit someone who has

Experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Experience supporting children with autism and complex needs in either a specialist or mainstream setting

Confidence adapting learning and support in the moment

A calm patient and resilient approach

A reflective and proactive attitude towards inclusive practice

A genuine interest in long term development within a supportive school environment
