Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a highly supportive SEMH specialist setting in Havering that is looking for a Residential Care Officer to join their dedicated team.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a nurturing residential environment where relationships are at the centre of everything. The school supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and provides a safe and structured setting where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, independence, and emotional security.

The residential provision is designed to feel like a real home. Children are supported by consistent adults who understand the importance of trust, patience, and connection in helping young people thrive.

The Role

As a Residential Care Officer, you will play an important role in supporting pupils both emotionally and practically throughout the school day and evening routines.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting children with their emotional, social, and behavioural development
• Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive routines
• Supporting pupils during activities, mealtimes, and evening routines
• Building strong and trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting pupils to engage positively with education and daily life
• Recording observations and contributing to care and support plans
• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and residential teams

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, resilient, and naturally nurturing
• Passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs
• Calm and consistent when managing challenging situations
• A strong team player with a proactive attitude
• Able to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries
• Experienced in care, residential support, SEND, or SEMH settings, although this is not essential
