School Based Mentor

Location: Cricklewood, North West London
Pay: £100 – £120 per day PAYE

This is a specialist education setting in North West London that supports young people who are unable to access mainstream school. Many of the students have experienced barriers to learning, including social, emotional and mental health needs, and may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement.

As a School Based Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups (typically no more than six), helping them develop emotional regulation, positive behaviours, and confidence within an educational environment.

This role is about more than just supporting learning. These young people need consistency, structure, and someone they can rely on. You will need to remain calm under pressure, build strong relationships, and act as a positive role model every day.

The setting is focused on helping students take meaningful steps forward, whether that is reintegration into mainstream education or progressing within specialist provision. With the right guidance and support, pupils can rebuild trust in education and achieve positive long-term outcomes.

You will be a key part of that journey. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a genuine difference.

Benefits and what they are looking for:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small, structured groups
  • Working within a supportive team in a well-resourced setting
  • Playing a key role in improving student engagement and behaviour
  • Opportunity to positively impact pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday, term-time only
  • Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Patient, resilient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Experience working with young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is desirable
