School Based Mentor

Location: Hounslow, West London
Pay: £100 – £120 per day PAYE

A specialist education setting in Hounslow is looking for a compassionate and resilient School Based Mentor to support young people who are unable to access mainstream education. Many of the students have experienced significant barriers to learning, including social, emotional and mental health needs, and may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement from education.

As a School Based Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them develop emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviours within a structured educational environment.

This role goes far beyond classroom support. The young people in this setting need consistency, patience, and trusted adults who can build strong relationships and provide stability each day. You will be a positive role model, supporting students through challenges while encouraging progress both academically and emotionally.

The school is committed to helping pupils take meaningful steps forward, whether that means reintegration into mainstream education or continued success within specialist provision. Every small breakthrough matters here, and you will be a key part of that journey.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

Benefits and what the school is looking for:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small, structured groups
  • Working within a supportive and well-resourced team
  • Opportunity to make a real impact on students with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday, term-time only
  • Developing valuable experience within specialist education
  • Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Patient, resilient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Experience working with young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is desirable

If this sounds like the right role for you, please apply today. If not, we can still support you in finding a position better suited to your experience and long-term goals.
