When a young person with SEMH finally settles into their school day, have you ever thought about how much of that calm starts in the school office? Are you ready for an admin role that could lead you towards becoming a School Business Manager?

About the role

I am currently working with a specialist SEND school in Surrey that is looking for a School Office and Finance Admin. The school supports young people with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs. This is a full-time, term-time-only role that combines front desk and general school admin with finance admin in Access. The school is commutable from Guildford, Godalming, Aldershot and Leatherhead.

Is your current role giving you enough?

If you work in admin or accounts, take a moment to consider whether your current role is actually providing you with what you deserve. You may be trusted with one narrow task and rarely see who your work helps. In this role, you will see it every week. The order you raise means the right resources reach a classroom. The parent you speak to at reception leaves feeling heard.

Most of your week is spent at the front desk and on general school admin. Around one day a week goes to finance. This mix gives you a rare head start. Experience across both a school office and school finance is a common route into School Business Manager roles, and few admin roles give you both at once.

About the school

These young people need routine and consistency, and the whole staff team works to provide them. The office plays a real part. Teachers rely on it to keep information and orders moving. Families rely on it for a clear answer and a friendly voice. When the office runs well, the whole school feels calmer.

You will not be managing behaviour. The school has trained staff for that. Your role is to keep the office organised, the finances accurate, and the day on track.

What to expect as a School Office and Finance Admin

  • Welcome visitors, families and professionals at reception, and manage calls, emails and the school diary
  • Keep attendance and pupil records accurate, with care for confidentiality and GDPR
  • Raise purchase orders, process invoices and match them to deliveries on Access
  • Handle supplier queries and petty cash, and support the office manager with simple budget reports
  • Support senior leaders and staff with letters, meetings and the day-to-day running of the office

About you

  • You have an interest in SEND and want your work to support young people with SEMH needs
  • You have experience of both office admin and finance admin, ideally in a school or academy
  • You have used Access finance software, or a similar system such as Sage or Xero
  • You plan your week well and can move between reception and finance tasks without losing track
  • You stay calm and kind when the day changes quickly, and you handle sensitive information with discretion

Why apply

The school wants to make the appointment permanent, so this is a role you can build a future in. You get set hours, weekly pay and every school holiday off. The finance side gives you skills that open doors to senior school business roles later on.

Working with PS Inclusion means you know exactly what you will be paid. Everyone is paid through PAYE, with no umbrella companies and no hidden deductions. You also get free CPD, including SEND training, to help you understand the young people your work supports. Over 400 educators have left PS Inclusion a five-star Google review, and I will be with you from your first conversation to your first day.

Next steps

The school wants to move quickly, and I am arranging interviews now. If you have experience in both admin and finance, this is a role worth applying for today.
