School Support Worker
Location: Edgware, North West London
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE only)
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: Immediate
Setting: Specialist SEN Primary School

Do you believe that care, patience and consistency can change a child’s whole world?

A specialist SEN primary school in Edgware is looking for a dedicated School Support Worker to join their team, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs.

These children need more than classroom support. They need adults who are calm, compassionate and emotionally present throughout the day. Many pupils are non-verbal and rely on trusted adults to help them feel safe, understood and comfortable as they move through daily routines. For some, progress is shown through engagement, connection, confidence and small steps towards independence.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in SEN schools, care, support work, or healthcare, and who is comfortable providing both learning support and personal care.

The role
You will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning and daily routines in a way that meets their individual needs. You will support with personal care, hygiene, feeding and mobility where required, always with dignity and sensitivity. You will help deliver sensory-based activities, support regulation, and use visual, tactile and communication strategies to encourage engagement. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team, contributing to a structured and supportive environment where pupils can thrive.

You will need to be patient, attentive and consistent, with a natural ability to reassure children who may be anxious, overwhelmed or medically vulnerable.

Who this role suits
This role suits someone with experience supporting children or young people with PMLD, complex SEN or physical and medical needs. You might come from a background in special schools, care, support work, youth services or healthcare. You will be confident supporting personal care and physical needs, and you will bring a calm, resilient and compassionate approach to your work.

The school is looking for someone reliable, proactive and committed to making a long-term difference, not someone looking for a short-term placement.
