School Youth Mentor

Location: Feltham

Pay: £92.59 - £120.00 per day

Job description:

Could you be the person a young person in alternative education remembers for the rest of their life?

For many young people, school has not always felt like a safe or successful place. Some have experienced instability, setbacks, or long periods of feeling misunderstood. With the right mentor beside them, that story can begin to change.

This brand-new specialist provision has been created to give young people a fresh start through structure, encouragement, and meaningful relationships. Built by an experienced senior leadership team, the setting focuses on a nurturing, child-centred approach where every young person is supported to rebuild confidence, develop emotionally, and re-engage with education.

As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers both inside and outside the classroom. Your ability to build trust, remain consistent, and create positive connections will have a lasting impact on young people who may never have had that support before.

The team is made up of individuals from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • SEMH schools and alternative provisions
  • Youth work and community support
  • Residential care settings
  • Prison and custodial services

The ideal person for this role will have:

  • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • An understanding of the daily challenges faced by disadvantaged young people
  • A calm, resilient, and grounded approach in difficult situations
  • A genuine passion for mentoring and helping young people succeed
