Salary: £450–£550 per week (PAYE)

About the role
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting an experienced School Youth Mentor for a specialist alternative education provision in Harlesden, Northwest London. This is a rare opportunity to join a setting built from the ground up by a senior leadership team committed to a holistic, child-centred model of education.
You will work with young people aged 11–18 who have faced significant barriers in education, at home, or in their community. As their mentor, you will provide a consistent, trusted presence that supports their personal development, re-engagement with learning, and long-term wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Build trusted, consistent mentoring relationships with young people in alternative provision
- Re-engage and re-motivate disengaged young people facing social, emotional, or educational barriers
- Support students' personal development and wellbeing through a nurturing, empowering approach
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across an SEMH-specialist setting
- Act as a stable, relatable adult figure for young people who have experienced instability
Who we're looking for
- Experience working with young people in SEMH settings, alternative provision, youth work, residential care, or custodial/prison settings
- Understanding of the challenges faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed in and beyond education
- A calm, grounded, and resilient approach in challenging situations
- Confidence engaging and motivating young people who have disengaged from mainstream education
