Your role as a School-Based Youth Worker

You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, understood and motivated to engage with education. Many of the young people you support may present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, or have experienced trauma. Your presence will help them develop confidence, self-control and positive relationships.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leads and external professionals, you will help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve personal success.

  • Building strong, nurturing relationships that promote trust and engagement

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom to encourage focus, participation and positive conduct

  • Promoting self-esteem and emotional well being through structured interventions

  • Supporting the development of social and communication skills

  • Acting as a positive role model for young people

  • Encouraging involvement in enrichment activities such as sport, creative arts or outdoor learning

Who we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behavioural needs
