School Youth Worker (SEMH)
Location: Feltham, West London
Pay: £90–£110 per day (PAYE only)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only | Temporary to Permanent
Do you believe the right adult can change the course of a young person’s life?
We are recruiting a School Youth Worker to join a specialist SEN setting in Feltham, supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Many of the young people in this school have experienced disrupted education and need adults who are calm, consistent and genuinely invested in their wellbeing. This is a structured, nurturing and relationship-led environment, where trust, emotional safety and positive connections are at the heart of everything.
The Role – School Youth Worker
Working closely with teaching and pastoral teams, you will provide targeted mentoring and emotional support to pupils who find it difficult to engage with education. Your role will include:
-
Delivering 1:1 and small group SEMH mentoring
-
Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
-
Using trauma-informed, restorative and de-escalation approaches
-
Supporting pupils in lessons, during transitions and at unstructured times
-
Building strong, consistent and trusting relationships
-
Contributing to behaviour plans, interventions and EHCP targets
Who This Role Is For
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people. You will be a great fit if you have:
-
Experience working with SEMH, SEN or behavioural needs
-
A background in youth work, SEN education, care or pastoral support
-
A calm, resilient and empathetic approach
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
A genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing
This is not a passive classroom role — it suits someone who wants to be actively involved in changing outcomes.
What’s on Offer
-
£90–£110 per day, depending on experience
-
PAYE only, with a clear temporary to permanent pathway
-
Full-time, term-time position
-
Ongoing training in SEMH, behaviour support and trauma-informed practice
-
Supportive leadership and an inclusive staff culture
-
Long-term progression within specialist education
Why This Role Matters
As a School Youth Worker, you will be a key adult helping young people rebuild trust, manage emotions and re-engage with learning. Progress may be steady rather than fast — but it is meaningful. Your presence, consistency and belief in them will make a real difference every single day.
