School-Based Occupational Therapist - Band 6 / Band 7

London Borough of Westminster

£37,000 – £49,000 per annum, term-time only

September start

*** Interviews are arranged ASAP ***

As a school-based occupational therapist, you already know the difference the right environment can make for the young people you work with, and for you. The question is whether the environment you are working in right now is allowing you to do your best work.

This is a role for someone who believes therapy should be embedded in everyday life, not delivered in isolation. If you’ve been looking for a setting where OT is genuinely woven into how a school thinks and operates, rather than treated as a separate service, this is worth reading on.

We are working exclusively with a specialist school in the London Borough of Westminster, supporting young people aged 11–19 with a range of learning differences and SEND needs. Many students have Autism / ASC, ADHD, SpLD, with a wide range of learning levels from early learning stages through to GCSE level. They are looking for a Band 6 or Band 7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join their therapy team from September.

What makes this role different

Therapy here isn’t done in a room down the corridor. You will be genuinely embedded within a multidisciplinary team, working shoulder to shoulder with teachers, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists. Joint planning sessions, curriculum-based goals, and a functional approach sit at the heart of how this team works. It is always child-led, always purposeful.

That level of integration takes genuine commitment. It requires flexibility, strong communication, and a real belief that working closely alongside a teaching team leads to better outcomes for young people. If that kind of environment excites you rather than overwhelms you, you’ll thrive here.

The school also understands the importance of looking after its own staff. This isn’t a place where therapists are left to figure things out on their own. Clinical supervision is held regularly, and you will receive support from internal line management.

What’s on offer

  • £37,000 – £49,000 per annum (term time only, with longer school holidays)
  • £3,000 leadership bonus for those stepping into a senior capacity
  • Contracted hours of 8am – 4:30pm
  • Generous PPA slots provided, with flexibility for morning working from home where possible
  • Visa sponsorship is available for the successful candidate
  • Free breakfast and lunch are provided daily
  • A whole-school culture of staff wellbeing: people genuinely look out for one another here

Who they are looking for

You are a qualified OT (must have HCPC or in process) with paediatric experience, ideally in an educational or SEND setting. You are comfortable holding a caseload that spans assessment, intervention planning, annual review contributions, and meaningful parent engagement. You understand that school-based OT looks different to clinic-based practice, and you are energised by that, not put off by it.

You communicate well across disciplines, take your documentation seriously, and bring both clinical rigour and genuine warmth to your work with young people. The right person for this role doesn’t need to be told why integrated therapy matters; they already believe it.
