School-based Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6)

Permanent Contract, September 2026

£32,000 - £45,000 per annum, term time only

You are trained to make a real difference to children who find communication genuinely hard, and you do. But in a stretched NHS caseload or a busy mainstream setting, the pace rarely gives you the space to work in the way you know works best. You move between schools, between priorities, between children who needed more time than the system allowed. It is not why you chose this work.

This role is different in a way that is worth paying attention to.

This is a specialist school in Mole Valley, Surrey, built specifically for children aged 7 to 16 with Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Every pupil holds an Education, Health and Care Plan. Every child here has been placed in this setting because they need something that a mainstream environment could not give them. The school is growing, attracting families and professionals who believe in what is being built here.

What makes it worth considering is the clinical environment. Class sizes are small. Adult-to-pupil ratios are high. The therapy team works directly alongside teaching staff, not in parallel. Your clinical recommendations will be heard, acted on, and built into each child's personalised learning plan. This is not a setting where therapy happens in a corridor between lessons. It is one in which the whole school is built around the needs of each individual child.

The pupils you will work with present with a range of speech, language and communication needs associated with Autism and ADHD. Many have social communication differences, processing difficulties, or limited verbal communication. Some will have had very little consistent therapeutic input before arriving here. Your work will shape how they access learning, build relationships, and begin to understand themselves as communicators.

You will join an established and growing therapy team. The school is in its development phase as a setting, which means there is genuine scope to contribute to how the SLT provision grows. If you want to be part of building something rather than maintaining what already exists, that matters here.

Candidates coming from the NHS, independent practice, or specialist education are all relevant. What matters most is that you understand the communication profile of children with Autism and ADHD, and that you can work with a multi-disciplinary team around each child's needs.

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
