Science Teacher (SEND) – Barnet

September 2026 Start | 0.8 FTE (Full Time Considered)

Some teaching roles are about delivering a curriculum. Others are about rebuilding a student’s confidence in learning. This opportunity offers the chance to do both.

We are working with a specialist SEND secondary school in Barnet that provides a supportive and structured environment for young people whose experiences in mainstream education haven’t always been positive. The school focuses on helping students rebuild confidence, develop independence and achieve meaningful qualifications.

From September 2026, the school is seeking a Science Teacher to join their team. The role is ideally 0.8 FTE, although full-time will be considered for the right candidate.

You will teach GCSE Combined Science (Higher Tier), delivering engaging and accessible lessons that support students with a range of additional needs to succeed. Many learners benefit from a personalised approach to education, so your ability to adapt content, build relationships, and create a safe learning environment will be key.

Small steps forward here often represent huge achievements. Your role will be to break down complex scientific ideas into clear, meaningful learning experiences that help students build both knowledge and confidence.

This position would particularly suit a teacher who understands the importance of trust, patience and flexibility when working with young people who may be neurodivergent or experiencing mental health challenges.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ability to teach GCSE Combined Science (Higher Tier)
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent learners and/or students with mental health needs
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles
  • Someone who can build rapport and motivate students to achieve their best

This is an opportunity to work in a setting where relationships, wellbeing and personalised learning sit at the heart of education.

If you’re looking for a role where your impact is visible every single day, we would love to speak with you.
