Parker Smith Inclusion is supporting a thriving mainstream secondary school in Wembley in their search for a dedicated Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in science who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

The role will involve supporting students in mainstream science lessons as well as in small group or one-to-one settings within the autism provision.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant with a focus on science, you will support students with autism and other additional needs to access the curriculum and make progress. You will adapt resources, encourage participation, and promote independence in learning. Working closely with teachers and the SEND team, you will help to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic and has the resilience to make a real difference to young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting students with autism and additional needs in science lessons and across the wider curriculum

Assisting teachers in planning and delivering differentiated activities

Encouraging positive behaviour, social interaction and communication skills

Providing tailored support in small group and one-to-one sessions

Recording and monitoring student progress and sharing feedback with the team

Contributing to the wider life of the school and ensuring inclusion in all aspects of learning
The Ideal Candidate

A strong academic background in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)

Experience supporting students with SEND, particularly autism, in an educational or care setting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A patient, proactive and caring nature

Commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for all learners
Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not essential – the school is open to science graduates or individuals with transferable skills who are keen to develop a career in education and SEND.
