Location: South West London - Merton
Salary: £95-£110 per day(dependent on experience) - PAYE (No hidden umbrella charges!)
Contract Type: Permanent/Temp to Perm - Full-time, Term-time only

We are working with a highly regarded specialist school in Merton that is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social-emotional challenges.

Your Role as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
You will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to access learning and develop essential life skills.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups, tailored to their individual needs

Assisting children with autism, speech and language needs, and social-emotional challenges

Helping pupils manage emotions, anxiety, and transitions throughout the school day(positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques)

Using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and assistive technology where required

Preparing engaging learning resources

Delivering therapy-based programmes under guidance (e.g. speech & language)

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

Supervising pupils during break/lunch times to support safe and positive interactions

Monitoring and celebrating pupil progress and achievements

About You:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND (essential)

Knowledge of Autism (ASC), SEMH, or communication needs (desirable)
