We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH / ASC Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with complex needs and trauma-related behaviours.

This is a full-time, long-term position starting January 2026, ideal for an experienced TA who is confident working with challenging behaviour and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

Role Details

  • Position: SEMH / ASC Teaching Assistant (1:1)

  • Year Group: Year 5

  • Start Date: January 2026

  • Hours: Full time (Monday–Friday)

  • Pay: £95–£100 per day (depending on experience)

  • Contract: Long-term

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH and ASC needs

  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning

  • Implement and follow individual behaviour plans, risk assessments, and strategies

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team

  • Support the pupil during transitions, unstructured times, and within the classroom

  • Use trauma-informed and child-centred approaches at all times

  • Maintain clear boundaries while offering calm, nurturing support

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASC, and trauma-related behaviours

  • Be comfortable and confident with 1:1 support in challenging situations

  • Possess a good sense of humour, and be charismatic, approachable, and patient

  • Be able to build strong working relationships and rapport with students

  • Remain calm, resilient, and proactive under pressure

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
