About the role

What if Art could be the subject that helps a young person see themselves differently?

For some pupils, creativity provides a way to communicate, build confidence and experience success when traditional classroom learning has become difficult.

A specialist education setting in London is looking for an Art Teacher to engage young people with SEMH needs and help them reconnect with education through creativity.

The setting

The setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, including young people who may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education.

The environment is structured, supportive and focused on building positive relationships, confidence and meaningful progress.

The role

As an Art Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons

• Teach practical and theoretical aspects of Art

• Introduce pupils to different artists, techniques and materials

• Adapt lessons to meet individual SEND and SEMH needs

• Assess and monitor pupil progress

• Build positive relationships with pupils

• Maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour

• Encourage creativity, confidence and independence

• Work alongside teaching and pastoral teams

• Support positive behaviour through consistent and nurturing approaches

Who we are looking for

This role would suit an Art Teacher who is passionate about their subject and wants to work in a specialist setting.

You may have mainstream teaching experience or previous experience within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision.
