Are you good at building trust, staying calm under pressure and helping young people overcome challenges?

We’re looking for a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist education setting in Harlesden, supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference by helping children manage their emotions, build positive relationships and re-engage with learning.

The Role

You’ll work closely with pupils who may find school challenging, providing consistent support and helping them develop the skills they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive relationships with pupils

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support

  • Helping children manage emotions and challenging situations

  • Identifying behavioural triggers and barriers to learning

  • Encouraging positive choices, confidence and independence

  • Supporting pupils to return to lessons and engage with learning

  • Maintaining clear boundaries and consistent expectations

  • Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have worked as a Behaviour Mentor before.

Your experience could come from teaching assistance, youth work, sports coaching, residential care, pastoral support or another role working with children and young people.

We’re particularly interested in people who are:

  • Patient, resilient and approachable

  • Calm and confident in challenging situations

  • Empathetic but able to maintain boundaries

  • Good at building trust and professional relationships

  • Passionate about helping young people reach their potential

Previous experience in SEND, SEMH, behaviour support or alternative provision would be beneficial, but the right attitude and transferable skills are equally important.

Why Apply?

  • £100–£120 per day PAYE

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity

  • Temp-to-perm potential

  • Experience in specialist SEND and SEMH education

  • Opportunities to develop your behaviour support skills

  • Ongoing support from Parker Smith Inclusion
