Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA looking for a role where you can truly change lives?
We are seeking a passionate and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist setting supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional needs such as autism, ADHD and associated learning differences.

The Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral professionals, you will provide high-quality classroom support, deliver interventions, and lead classes during planned and short-term staff absence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering lessons from pre-prepared plans and leading learning sessions when required.
- Supporting individual pupils and small groups to achieve EHCP targets and personal learning goals.
- Delivering targeted interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, emotional regulation and engagement.
- Supporting pupils through periods of dysregulation using restorative and therapeutic approaches.
- Promoting positive attendance, behaviour and learning habits.
- Maintaining accurate pupil records and contributing to progress monitoring.
- Supporting educational visits, enrichment activities and transition programmes.
- Working collaboratively with families and multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates who have:
- A HLTA qualification or relevant experience leading learning within schools.
- At least two years' experience supporting children or young people in educational, youth work, social care or related settings.
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs, autism and neurodiversity.
- Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive way.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed.
