SEMH Learning Mentor
Brent, North West London
£500–£600 per week PAYE
Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Long-Term to Permanent
💬 Can you see the child behind the behaviour? Sometimes the biggest difference isn't made by the loudest voice in the room, but by the adult who quietly shows up, every single day.
Some young people have experienced school as a place of frustration, exclusion and disappointment. This specialist provision believes every pupil deserves the opportunity to start again with adults who understand that behaviour is communication and that relationships come before results.
We are supporting a specialist SEND provision in Brent that is looking to appoint an experienced SEMH Learning Mentor to join their dedicated team.
The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom also have Autism (ASC) and ADHD. With small class sizes, therapeutic approaches and a highly supportive staff team, the school creates an environment where pupils can rebuild confidence, develop emotional regulation and begin to enjoy learning again.
As a SEMH Learning Mentor, you will become a trusted adult for a small group of pupils, helping them navigate the school day through patience, consistency and positive relationships. Working alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral staff, you'll help pupils regulate emotions, build resilience and celebrate every step of progress.
The role will include:
-
Supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism and ADHD
-
Building strong, positive relationships with young people
-
Delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring
-
Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
-
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families
-
Supporting pupils to access learning and achieve positive outcomes
We're looking for someone who:
-
Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or SEND
-
Understands that behaviour is communication
-
Is calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent
-
Can build trust with pupils through consistency and patience
-
Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
