Temp to Perm | Summer Term Start

What if you could be the person who helps a child feel safe in school again? The one who notices the small wins, builds trust over time, and supports a young person to take those first steps back into learning. If you are looking for a meaningful role in SEND, where every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference, this could be exactly what you’ve been searching for.

The Opportunity

We are working with a specialist SEMH primary setting supporting pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2, all of whom have complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. With small class sizes of around 10 pupils and a strong staff-to-pupil ratio—including a Teacher, HLTA, and additional Learning Support Assistants—you will be part of a nurturing and well-supported team. This school understands that for many pupils, education hasn’t always felt accessible. Their approach is rooted in warmth, structure, and consistency—helping children re-engage with learning while building confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.

Your Part in Their Story

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in each child’s journey.

You will:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, becoming a consistent and positive presence
  • Support children to engage in learning activities in a way that feels safe and achievable
  • Encourage independence, communication, and self-care skills
  • Act as a positive role model, supporting behaviour with patience and empathy
  • Adapt your approach to meet each child’s individual needs
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider team to provide consistent, holistic support

About You

We are looking for someone who is resilient, compassionate, and genuinely committed to supporting young people.

You may:

  • Have experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Come from a background in psychology, social work, youth work, or similar
  • Be emotionally aware and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Be proactive, patient, and able to build relationships over time
  • Have a genuine passion for helping children succeed

Why This Role?

  • A supportive, well-staffed environment where you are never on your own
  • Small class sizes that allow for meaningful connections
  • A nurturing, therapeutic approach to behaviour and learning
  • The opportunity to make a visible, lasting difference in children’s lives
  • A clear pathway from temp to permanent
