SEMH Learning Support Assistant - Two Vacancies

Barnet, North London | £95–£110 per day PAYE | Full-time | ASAP

A pupil having a difficult morning should not determine how the rest of their day is treated.

The strongest SEMH support staff know how to reset, remain consistent and give young people another opportunity to succeed.

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting two Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist SEMH setting in Barnet as soon as possible.

These positions would suit experienced support staff who understand that successful SEMH work is built on relationships, boundaries and consistency.

What will you be doing?

You will:

  • Support pupils throughout lessons

  • Work individually and with small groups

  • Help pupils regulate emotions and remain engaged

  • Build consistent professional relationships

  • Reinforce clear expectations and boundaries

  • Support pupils after difficult incidents

  • Help pupils return to learning

  • Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team

  • Encourage independence and positive decision-making

Who are we looking for?

The school is particularly interested in candidates with previous experience in:

  • SEMH

  • Behaviour support

  • Alternative provision

  • SEND

  • Youth work

  • Residential care

  • Mental health

  • Behaviour mentoring

This is best suited to someone who already understands challenging behaviour and is comfortable working within a specialist setting.

You will need to be calm, resilient and able to avoid taking behaviour personally.

Why consider this role?

A strong LSA can become one of the most consistent adults in a young person's school experience.

You will not win every battle in a day, and progress will not always be immediate.

But helping a pupil begin to trust adults, remain in education and see themselves differently can have a lasting impact.

£95–£110 per day PAYE, depending on experience.

Parker Smith Inclusion specialises exclusively in SEND recruitment. We offer honest advice, PAYE placements and ongoing support from consultants who understand specialist education.
