SEMH Learning Support Assistant
£95-£110 per day PAYE | Full-Time | Immediate Start
A challenging moment does not define a young person's entire day.
The most effective SEMH professionals recognise when a fresh start is needed, stay consistent in their approach, and continue to believe in a pupil's potential, even on difficult days.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEMH provision seeking Learning Support Assistants to join their team as soon as possible.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who understand that positive outcomes in SEMH settings are achieved through trust, patience, clear boundaries, and reliable support.
Your Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom support across a range of lessons
- Work with students on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist young people in managing emotions and overcoming barriers to learning
- Establish positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Promote structure, routine, and consistent expectations
- Support students following dysregulated or challenging situations
- Encourage re-engagement with learning activities
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Foster confidence, independence, and positive choices
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates with experience in areas such as:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Behaviour support or behaviour mentoring
- SEND environments
- Alternative provisions
- Youth work
- Residential childcare
- Mental health support
- Outreach or intervention work
This position would suit someone who is confident supporting young people with additional needs and understands the importance of remaining calm, patient, and resilient when faced with challenging behaviour.
Why Apply?
For many pupils in SEMH settings, a Learning Support Assistant can become one of the most influential and dependable adults in their school journey.
Progress is rarely linear, and every day brings different challenges. However, helping a young person build confidence, develop trust, and achieve success in education can be incredibly rewarding.
£95-£110 per day PAYE, dependent on experience.
