About the school: They are a vibrant and inclusive primary school nestled in the heart of Harlow, dedicated to providing a nurturing learning environment for all our students. Our Additional Resource Provision (ARP) serves 17 students with SEMH needs, and we are committed to helping them achieve their full potential.
The Role: As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs to access the curriculum, develop social skills, and build confidence. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Collaborating with teachers and therapists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development.
- Monitoring and reporting progress to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Building strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Requirements: To excel in this role, you should have:
- A genuine passion for working with children with SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a similar role or a relevant qualification is advantageous but not essential.
