What almost no one asks you is what happens after that moment, the meeting, the plan, the review that decides what that pupil needs next. You have earned a seat at that table. This role is for a specialist SEMH school in West London, working with a dedicated Year 7 nurture group. Pupils here present primarily with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, alongside co-occurring Autism and ADHD. Many have experienced disrupted or difficult starts to their education. This group needs consistency and a Teacher who understands that trust comes before curriculum, every single day.
The Role
Eighty per cent of this role is nurture teaching. You will lead a small Year 7 SEMH group, building regulation, routine, and academic progress together, not one before the other. Direct SEMH experience is essential. You need to already know what dysregulation looks like before it escalates, and how to bring a pupil back into the room without turning it into a battle.
The other twenty per cent is where this role becomes genuinely different. You will work alongside the SENCO on an informal basis, close to the EHCP processes and pupil reviews that usually happen behind a closed door. This is not a formal leadership title, and it is not extra admin dressed up as opportunity. It is early, honest access to the strategic side of SEND provision, for a Teacher who is ready to see how those decisions get made before deciding whether that is the direction they want to take.

Who This Suits
Teachers with solid, direct SEMH experience. Specialist setting experience is not essential, but you need to have taught pupils with SEMH and understood what that actually demands day to day. Experience alongside Autism or ADHD is a strong advantage.
