SEMH Outreach Mentor
London | Immediate Start | £121 per day PAYE

We are recruiting for an inspiring therapeutic outreach service working across London. The service operates with a no exclusion approach, supporting some of the most vulnerable, high-risk and hard-to-reach young people.

This role involves working with young people who may have been out of formal education for a significant period and are currently unable to cope within a traditional classroom environment. You will play a key role in re-engaging learners as they begin their journey with the outreach service.

The young people supported will have SEMH and/or ASC diagnoses, alongside complex additional needs. Many may have experienced trauma, exploitation, or exposure to violence and instability. They require consistent, skilled support to help them re-engage with education and begin to regulate and rebuild.

This service has a strong track record of success, with many young people progressing into full-time education or employment and beginning to thrive both academically and emotionally. For example, a young person with significant barriers including low attendance, exclusions, PTSD and challenging behaviour was supported through a tailored mentoring approach and is now attending a specialist setting with strong engagement, improved attendance and active participation in restorative work.

This is a genuinely impactful opportunity for someone who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

Key responsibilities and requirements:

  • Support the development of holistic learning and engagement plans to aid transition back into education
  • Work outside of a traditional classroom setting, often in community-based environments
  • Support highly vulnerable young people on a 1:1 basis across London
  • Manage and respond to dysregulated behaviour with confidence and understanding of underlying causes
  • Work in a trauma-informed and therapeutic way, supporting emotional regulation and trust-building
  • Full-time availability required: 8:30am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Willingness to travel across London to meet the needs of learners
  • Lunch and travel expenses (during working hours) reimbursed

If you are interested in this type of role, please get in touch. Alternatively, if this is not quite the right fit, support can also be provided to explore other suitable opportunities.
