SEMH Outreach Mentor
London | Immediate Start | £121 per day PAYE
Not every young person can walk through the school gates.
Some have been excluded. Some haven't attended school for months or even years. Others are living with the effects of trauma, exploitation, violence, anxiety or significant emotional challenges that make traditional education feel impossible.
This is where you come in.
We are recruiting on behalf of an exceptional therapeutic outreach service that is transforming the lives of some of London's most vulnerable young people. Operating with a no-exclusion philosophy, this innovative service meets young people where they are – literally and emotionally – helping them rebuild trust, develop resilience and reconnect with education.
As an SEMH Outreach Mentor, you won't be confined to a classroom. One day you could be supporting a young person in a community setting, the next helping them take their first steps back into education. Every interaction has the potential to change the trajectory of a young person's future.
The Young People You'll Support
You will work with learners who have SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and a range of additional complex needs.
Many have experienced significant adversity, including:
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Child exploitation and criminal exploitation
- Exposure to violence or instability
- Persistent school absence or exclusion
- Anxiety, low self-esteem and difficulties with emotional regulation
These young people need more than supervision. They need someone who can build relationships, create safety, recognise potential and help them believe in themselves again.
Why This Service Stands Out
This isn't a service that gives up on young people.
Through highly personalised support, therapeutic approaches and unwavering belief in each learner's potential, the team has helped countless young people re-engage with education, move into employment and develop positive futures.
One recent learner joined the service with a history of exclusions, extremely low attendance, PTSD and significant behavioural challenges. Through consistent mentoring, relationship-building and tailored support, they successfully transitioned into a specialist educational setting where they are now attending regularly, engaging positively and making meaningful progress.
Stories like this are not the exception – they're the reason this service exists.
