SEMH PE Teacher
We’re excited to be working with a fantastic SEMH Secondary School in Hillingdon as they look to welcome a creative, fun, and inspiring PE Teacher to their team. If you’re passionate about movement, wellbeing, and helping young people discover their strengths both on and off the pitch, this role is made for you.
This school supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs — young people who may struggle with anxiety, self-regulation, motivation, or emotional wellbeing. Many may also have diagnosed or undiagnosed SEN, and some express their needs through challenging behaviour. In this environment, PE is more than a subject — it’s a chance to build resilience, confidence, teamwork, and trust.
About the Role:
We’re seeking a PE Teacher (QTS preferred) with experience teaching KS3 and KS4 and, ideally, someone with involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. You’ll be planning and delivering engaging, practical, and uplifting PE lessons that encourage participation, wellbeing, and personal growth. You'll also be supporting broader PSHE/RSE themes through your teaching, helping students develop life skills, healthy habits, and positive relationships.
In this setting, PE becomes a powerful outlet — a place where students can channel their emotions, challenge themselves, and experience success in ways they may not achieve in a traditional classroom. You’ll be helping them:
-
Build confidence and communication skills
-
Develop teamwork and leadership abilities
-
Understand physical and mental wellbeing
-
Explore outdoor and adventurous activities, including DofE
-
Learn how to take pride in small, meaningful achievements
With smaller groups and a supportive team around you, you’ll have the space to be creative, patient, and responsive to each student’s needs.
What We’re Looking For:
-
A PE teacher with strong behaviour management rooted in empathy, consistency, and positive reinforcement
-
Experience working with SEMH or SEN students
-
Someone confident in planning practical lessons that feel exciting, safe, and accessible
-
A teacher who brings positivity, humour, and fresh ideas to the sports hall, playground, or field
-
Experience with Duke of Edinburgh or a willingness to get involved
-
A commitment to promoting wellbeing, personal development, and healthy lifestyle choices
If you’re ready to make a genuine difference, empower students through sport, and bring energy into a setting where it’s truly needed, we’d love to hear from you.
