KS2 Primary Teacher SEMH Setting
Location: Barking and Dagenham
Salary: Inner London Pay Scale PAYE
We are working closely with a specialist therapeutic school in Barking and Dagenham that is seeking a resilient, adaptable KS2 Teacher to join their team immediately on a temp to perm basis.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a genuinely supportive SEMH environment where relationships, consistency, and therapeutic practice are at the heart of everything they do. You will be teaching a small upper KS2 class of pupils with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs. With only a handful of learners in the group, you’ll have the time and space to truly make an impact on each child’s progress and wellbeing.
You will be fully supported by experienced Teaching Assistants within the classroom, alongside a wider therapeutic team who work collaboratively to ensure every pupil receives the right level of care and guidance. Leadership also provides all planning, allowing you to focus your energy on high-quality delivery, engagement, and relationship-building.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience working with children with SEMH needs, trauma, or highly challenging behaviour
• Be calm under pressure, resilient, and able to respond effectively in unpredictable situations
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills, including supporting emotional regulation and positive transitions
• Thrive within a multidisciplinary, therapeutic team approach
• Be Team Teach trained or willing to undertake training immediately
• Hold QTS or bring strong, relevant experience from specialist or alternative provisions
This role is also an excellent fit for experienced HLTAs or unqualified teachers with strong SEMH experience who are ready to step up into a more progressive specialist teaching role.
What’s on offer:
• Temp to perm pathway within a highly supportive specialist setting
• Inner London pay scale, paid via PAYE
• Very small class sizes with strong adult support
• Two Teaching Assistants based in the classroom
• Full planning and structure provided by leadership
• Genuine long-term progression and development within SEMH education
This position is available for an immediate start, with interviews taking place as soon as possible.
