A specialist SEN secondary school in Wembley is seeking a dedicated SEMH School Youth Worker to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting young people who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education or behavioural challenges that impact their engagement in school.

The school provides a structured, supportive environment where relationships, consistency and clear boundaries help pupils rebuild confidence and re-engage with education. Staff work collaboratively to support emotional regulation, behaviour development and positive learning outcomes.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, behaviour mentoring, alternative provision, PRU settings or SEN support roles who are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people in education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs
• Support students during lessons, transitions, break times and unstructured periods
• Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
• Assist teachers in maintaining structured and inclusive learning environments
• Support implementation of behaviour strategies and EHCP targets
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams

Requirements

• Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or SEN
• Background in youth work, mentoring, care, residential support, alternative provision or education
• Strong relationship-building and de-escalation skills
• Calm, resilient and patient approach when supporting challenging behaviour
• Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour support in schools
