SEMH Science Teacher
We’re delighted to be partnering with a supportive and forward-thinking SEMH Secondary School in Hillingdon to recruit an inspiring Science Teacher who’s ready to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.
This school supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs — young people who may struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, or past experiences that have made mainstream education difficult. Many students may also have diagnosed or undiagnosed SEN, and some display challenging behaviour as a way of communicating their needs.
In this environment, the right teacher isn’t just delivering a curriculum — they’re building trust, boosting confidence, and helping students reconnect with learning in a way that feels safe, engaging, and meaningful.
About the Role
We’re seeking a passionate Science Teacher (QTS preferred) with experience delivering lessons to KS3 and KS4. You’ll be planning and delivering practical, hands-on Science lessons that capture learners’ attention and spark curiosity. Creativity and flexibility are key — you’ll be encouraged to adapt your teaching style to meet individual needs and celebrate progress at every stage.
What Makes SEMH Teaching Special?
Working in an SEMH setting means:
-
Forming strong, consistent relationships that often have a lasting positive impact
-
Helping students develop resilience, social skills, and belief in their own abilities
-
Using creative and therapeutic approaches to behaviour management
-
Being part of a team that truly understands trauma-informed practice and the importance of emotional well-being
-
Enjoying smaller class sizes where you can tailor your teaching and really get to know each student
It’s a role that’s challenging at times — but incredibly rewarding. You’ll witness growth in ways that can’t always be measured by grades alone: improved confidence, moments of curiosity, and students feeling safe enough to take part and try again.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Strong behaviour management grounded in patience, empathy, and consistency
-
Secondary teaching experience, ideally within Science
-
Experience supporting young people with SEMH and SEN needs
-
A creative teacher who can bring lessons to life and adapt to different learning styles
-
Someone who believes in every student’s potential, even on the tougher days
This role is perfect for someone who believes in meeting students where they are, celebrating progress in all its forms, and building trust through consistency and creativity. You’ll be joining a team that values collaboration and understands the power of nurturing relationships with students who need that extra bit of support
If you’re a Science Teacher who wants to inspire, support, and help students rediscover their love of learning, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today — and take the next step toward a truly meaningful teaching opportunity.
