Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs?
We are looking for a caring, resilient and dedicated SEMH Support professional to join a specialist provision in Thurrock, supporting pupils at Year 6 level across the provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives, wellbeing and educational outcomes of young people.
The Role
- Supporting Year 6 pupils across the provision
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs and additional barriers to learning
- Supporting pupils to engage with learning and overcome barriers to education
- Creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
- Working closely with teaching staff, support staff and other professionals
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
- Helping pupils remain engaged and focused throughout the school day
- Providing consistent and positive behaviour support
The position is available on a temporary to permanent basis, with an ASAP start available.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, resilient and consistent, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils who may have experienced challenges within education.
Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong experience in pastoral support, behaviour management, youth work or similar settings will also be considered.
You will need to be confident supporting pupils at Year 6 level and able to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of pupils across the provision.
