Are you an experienced SEMH Support Assistant, Behaviour Support professional, Youth Worker or Pastoral Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role within a specialist school setting?
A welcoming specialist SEN and SEMH school in Harrow is seeking a committed SEMH Support Assistant to work with pupils across primary and secondary age ranges who require emotional, behavioural and pastoral support to fully access education.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, behaviour support, mentoring, sports coaching, psychology or community-based roles who are looking to develop long-term experience within SEN and SEMH education.

The role
As an SEMH Support Assistant, you will support pupils who may display challenging behaviour, experience emotional regulation difficulties or have a background of trauma. Your role will focus on helping pupils feel safe, regulated and ready to engage with learning throughout the school day.
You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to reduce barriers to learning, promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ emotional wellbeing.
Key responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small group SEMH support

Supporting pupils with behaviour management, routines and emotional regulation

Building consistent, positive relationships with pupils

Supporting learning and behaviour within the classroom environment

Implementing behaviour strategies and structured interventions

Promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and self-esteem
-
Acting as a positive role model at all times

Supporting enrichment activities including sport and practical learning
Ideal candidate

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour

Calm, patient and resilient approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Passion for supporting vulnerable pupils in a school setting

Flexible, proactive and reliable
-
Background in youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, pastoral care or sports coaching is highly desirable
