Parker Smith Inclusion is looking for an SEMH Support Assistant to work with Year 6 pupils in a specialist provision in Thurrock.
You'll be supporting children who may find it difficult to manage their emotions, regulate their behaviour or engage with learning. Building trust and providing a consistent, positive approach will be a big part of the role, helping pupils feel safe, supported and more confident in the classroom.
The role includes:
-
Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
-
Helping pupils manage their emotions and behaviour.
-
Building positive relationships and encouraging engagement with learning.
-
Providing structure, routine and consistency throughout the school day.
-
Working alongside teaching staff to support pupils' progress and development.
Who would suit this role?
We're looking for someone patient, resilient and able to stay calm when situations become challenging.
Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour would be beneficial. We'd also be interested in hearing from people with backgrounds in youth work, pastoral support, care or behaviour management.
Being able to build trust, set clear boundaries and understand that progress can take time is important.
