A specialist SEMH setting in Hounslow is seeking an inspirational SEMH Teacher to join their dedicated team. The pupils in this school often arrive having faced significant barriers to learning. Many may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or struggled to thrive in mainstream environments. The school places strong emphasis on relationships, consistency, and creating a safe environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and re-engage with education.
About the Role
You will be responsible for teaching a small class of pupils with SEMH needs, delivering a curriculum that combines academic learning with emotional development, life skills, and personalised support. This is a role where flexibility, patience, and creativity are key, and where your impact will be felt every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches to build positive relationships with pupils
- Creating a structured, supportive classroom environment where pupils feel safe and valued
- Working closely with behaviour mentors, support staff, and external professionals
- Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and communication skills
- Monitoring progress and contributing to personalised learning plans
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds QTS and has experience teaching in either primary or secondary settings
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Is confident using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and consistency in their approach
- Is committed to supporting pupils who may need a second chance to succeed
